This week marks a full decade of Running Diva Mom's journey. Ten years. Thousands of miles. And hundreds of blog posts.
This morning, in between sessions, I was able to log ten celebratory miles outdoors. Okay, I miscalculated my route -- and finished eleven miles before arriving back at the studio. But, whatever. I left my studio and headed out for ten very misty and equally cleansing miles around Sun Prairie. I ran through town and passed both of my previous locations, mixed in some Campfire Hill repeats, and finished with some speed work in between stoplights and morning traffic. It was just what I needed.
Over the past ten years, so much has changed in my life, my business and this blog. What started with me writing about my new-found love of running and racing has turned into a business and a lifestyle -- and amazing friendships, learning opportunities and tremendous growth.
In May of 2009 I had a five year old and an eighteen month old. I was trying to find myself through running. I found myself -- and a whole lot more. What started with my online running journal, transformed into product reviews and giveaways for active families and then a business and more connections and opportunities than I ever knew was possible.
I still remember writing that very first blog post. Only a few members of my family knew about my blog, and then a few friends, and co-workers. Writing those first few posts were pretty scary. I didn't even know if anyone was going to read my words. Then I started slowly connecting with other runners and bloggers in my area - and then around the country. Two years after writing those first posts, something changed with this blog as my life changed. Being given the gift of coaching and the leadership skills and confidence this opportunity has provided me has transformed me inside and out. Everyone should be able to step outside of their comfort zone, learn something new, grow and become confident. You just have to be willing to do so.
To celebrate Running Diva Mom's ten year anniversary, I will be celebrating with various $10 pop-up classes throughout the summer. Four are scheduled during the month of May. I hope that you will join me and step outside of YOUR comfort zone, too.
