If you've ever taking a class from me, you've probably stepped away thinking that they are a little different from some other classes that you have taken. Every instructor has their strengths, favorite formats and style. I like to think that mine is a little different offering in the area.
I pride my sessions on being an "emotional movement experience" for 45 minutes to an hour.
You won't see many people throwing heavy weights around in my studio, or me screaming at them to do one more rep. You won't hear loud bass thumping or crazy complex movements being demonstrated.
I enjoy providing a comfortable experience for women to move and explore their bodies through basic movement patterns that will help them thrive during their daily activities of life. When clients show up, I will meet them where they are at -- that morning or evening. This means both physically and emotionally. One of my goals with these sessions is to meet the client where they are physically, offer modifications and make her comfortable while they are with me. I want her to build both confidence and strength through her movement. My other goal is to meet a client who has had a bad day emotionally and lift them up through their dynamic exercises. This may mean making them taller through posture exercises, slowing down breathing patterns, or providing light, upbeat music with motivating lyrics. I often talk things out with clients during their sessions so that they can leave any negative energy in the studio (or on the trail) and leave a little lighter after our time together.
The exercises and movements that I incorporate into my sessions and classes are based on discovery and feelings through movement. I develop all of my own programming and each session is unique. My workouts are not handed down from headquarters or provided with my certification. These are movement patterns that I have included for a reason, as we explore our bodies capabilities in the studio. Participants will never experience the same class twice.
I have struggled with running injuries, body image issues, weight gain, eating disorders and personal life struggles since I was a young woman. I can relate to you and what you're going through. Movement has gotten me through every single difficult period of my life. I didn't always realize it at the time. But it has been a constant way for me to survive - and then thrive. I want to help you do the same.
