Cool Relief provides medical grade products to provide relief in nearly every part of the body. From the neck, down to the toes -- athletes and active individuals will be able to find comfort and relief from both their cooling and heating products, which include pads, packs and wraps. Their products provide relief from cramps, sprains, acute and chronic injuries and recovery from operations. Whether you are looking for a solution in between massage appointments and visits to your chiropractor. Or if you just want to find some comfort while you are sitting and relaxing, I would highly suggest giving their products a try. Many allow you to be mobile and move while you are finding comfort. Their products would also be great for endurance athletes that want to enhance their recovery. Long distance runners and triathletes should definitely check out their products when looking to enhance their self-care and recovery routine.
I have worked with Cool Relief several times over the past decade. I have tried both knee and ankle wraps previously. I have been struggling with hip and glute issues since my fourty mile run on my fourtieth birthday. Sometimes I can find some relief and other times I cannot. I was excited to give the Cool Relief Soft Gel Hip Ice Wrap a try this fall.
I received one hip wrap with a matching gel pack. There are great directions on the package on how to properly apply and adjust the wrap to your body. The velcro closures make it easy to tighten to your bodytype and preferred level of compression. You'll receive one large gel pack that looks like two mini gel packs. This can be used cold or hot. There are great directions (again) on the gel package for appropriate cold and hot usage. Either store it in the freezer or place in a microwave for thirty second intervals (up to three minutes). The set retails online for $42.
I found that I could feel the cooling pack inside, but it wasn't uncomfortable. It didn't weight me down or totally restrict my movement. I felt that I could go about my daily activities of life. The wrap provided the protection that I needed against the cold pack and no additional towel was needed. As it warmed up to my body temperature, there wasn't unwelcome condensation or dripping either.
The hip stayed in place while preparing for sessions in my studio, standing and working, embracing desk breaks and walking around. I am a total busy-body and am always in motion. If I had to always sit down while wearing something like this, I simply would not use it. I did not workout while wearing the wrap. I used it cold only and found some short-term relief for my other sessions during the day. Between embracing the icing, a dynamic warm-up and using a massage gun on my lower body and feet - my next couple of runs felt stronger and I even noticed my mile splits were a little faster after finding some relief. The pain in my hip didn't completely go away, but it did diminish a little, which also reduced my lower back pain. I will keep playing around with this hip wrap over the fall and winter months and will continue to improve on my own self-care regime.
It would definitely be helpful to have a couple of hot/cold packs with any of their wraps so that you can freeze one and have the other one handy for heating.
