Sun Prairie and Madison offer some great spots to run and my family and I enjoy checking these out every year or as often as we can. No two local running routes are the same, in our opinion. I'd have to say, of my favorites from the list, the Upper Yahara River trail, and the UW Arboretum are the top of my list! But anytime I can lace up my running shoes and hit one of these destinations is always a good day for me.

What makes for a great local running route? Minimal disruption and traffic, scenic views, paved paths that are well maintained, opportunity to see wildlife and connect a bit with nature, and a route that takes your mind off running and allows you to just enjoy the moment. Wisconsin truly has some awesome spots to run and I'm certain I've only scratched the surface with my list. From Door County to Milwaukee, LaCrosse and running around the bluffs, to running around the lakes here in Dane County, we are blessed with some great spots to get some good mileage in, don't you agree?!
