There are a lot of new faces around here recently. And I've had the opportunity to meet a not of new clients in my new studio space this spring, too. It occurred to me that many of you may have an idea of what I do here and who I am personally. But I treat my clients like my BFFs and I want you to REALLY know who I am.

So, here are twenty one things that you may not know about me (or, maybe you do!?!?):

  1. I didn't start running until I was 25. And I HATED running the mile in gym class.
  2. All three of my kiddos were born during the week of Christmas (two of them even had the same due date).
  3. My sister, my only sibling, is thirteen years younger than me. And yes, we were both planned!
  4. I have lived in my current county for my entire life. Never left.
  5. I have never colored my hair, but wear makeup almost every single day (It really DOES keep the sweat out of my eyes!).
  6. I had a tooth under the roof of my mouth for years. As a teenager, the dentist had to dig it out and move it in line with my other teeth, causing a nice gap. I had braces until I was 20 years old.
  7. My favorite post marathon meal is Diet Mountain Dew and Fritos.
  8. In 2020, I was looking for a way to stay motivated and to connect with my community during the pandemic. So I decided to raise funds for our local Girls on the Run Chapter. I ran 40 miles for my 40th birthday and several clients and friends pledged when they ran or biked miles alongside me.
  9. Before I pursued my personal training certification, I never really had lifted a weight!
  10. My husband didn't run when we met. He trained for his first 5K while we were dating. He then went on to half marathons, marathons and completed an Ironman triathlon.
  11. My oldest daughter designed both of my tattoos - one which matches hers.
  12. I was known for wearing high heels to work everyday and matched my entire wardrobe to my jewelry. Now I don't own a pair of pumps and only wear a few select necklace that mean something to me.
  13. I use to run races every weekend but have hardly ran races in the past five years. I enjoy the comfort of being in my shoes, in my thoughts, finding my own routes and just enjoying movement. (see #8)
  14. I am totally a morning person and get up at 3:45 am every day - except on Sunday. Saturdays I sleep in until 5.
  15. Music drives my entire life. I listen to it all day. When I'm running you'll also find me listening to my "wired-up" earbuds (I can't convert!) with playlists that I cannot share with my clients because the lyrics are too dirty.
  16. My current studio location is my fourth spot to run my business. My first was above a storage unit. My second was in a downtown historic building that was lost in the 2018 gas explosion. My third space was occupied for three years, two of that being during the pandemic. My current space at 335 Cannery Square feels comfortable and like "home".
  17. I worked at the University of Wisconsin for almost twenty years.
  18. I don't like having my feet touched. Never have. I almost kicked my mom when she tried massaging my feet during my first labor.
  19. I had all three of my kids without pain medication and relied on my birth playlist with kid #3 (see #15).
  20. We moved to our current "dream home" because we love the neighborhood park and trail system.
  21. I love traveling with my family and finding free activities and outdoor areas to explore. We also pair our adventures with supper clubs, ice cream shops and support local coffee shops. My family humors me.
